Did you know there are differences in the way dehydrators are designed?
One of the most important questions we ask anyone interested in the dehydrator business is: “What is your raw material?”
Your raw material determines the most effective dehydrator to use:
– For low-moisture content raw materials like beans, potatoes, vegetables, and grains, a single-walled (SW) dehydrator is ideal.
– For high-moisture content raw materials like watery fruits (pineapple, apples, watermelon, dates), the double-walled (DW) dehydrator is recommended for faster and more efficient drying.
While an SW dehydrator can dry fruits as well, it takes a longer time. On the other hand, a DW dehydrator maximizes the use of electrical power, making it more efficient.
To clarify, a DW dehydrator will not damage low-moisture content raw materials. It can dry them effectively, but it is designed to handle materials with high moisture content more efficiently. This distinction is about efficiency and time, not product safety or quality.
The two dehydrators serve different purposes, and the choice depends on your raw material and processing goals.
Please note that the prices for SW and DW dehydrators differ.
